The most expensive superyachts in the world.

Mansions afloat on water. That’s essentially what superyachts represent. They boast numerous bedrooms, dance clubs, private cinemas, and every conceivable luxury that individuals with boundless financial resources could desire.

Superyachts are not mass-produced commodities. Constructing such a technological marvel requires the world’s leading architects and engineers. Naturally, when you insist on the absolute finest, it comes at a significant cost. However, one of the attractions of owning a superyacht is that only a select few on this planet can truly afford one.

Pelorus – $300 million

Originally launched in 2001 and subsequently extended in 2003, Pelorus derives its name from the Greek word for “vast,” a fitting choice considering its status as one of the world’s largest yachts. Initially owned by Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the son of the UAE’s founder, it is currently under the ownership of Hong Kong real estate tycoon Samuel Tak Lee. Lee is rumored to have paid a staggering one billion dollars, which is more than triple the yacht’s actual value, for the privilege of owning Pelorus.

Al Said – $300 million

Owned by Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman, Al Said was constructed in 2008. It stands as one of the world’s lengthiest superyachts, measuring over 500 feet long. Al Said has the capacity to accommodate up to 70 guests and a crew of 150. While not much is disclosed about the yacht’s amenities, it is renowned for its inclusion of a concert hall that can host a full chamber orchestra.

Radiant – $320 million

The Radian, constructed in 2009 and owned by billionaire Emirati Abdullah Al Futem, offers a plethora of activities to enjoy on board, including a jacuzzi, a garage for housing a collection of luxury cars, a sauna, a movie theater, and a gym. However, potential pirates should take heed, as rumors suggest that this superyacht is equipped with a formidable water cannon, capable of deterring even the most daring of treasure hunters with eye patches and peg legs.

Serene – $330 million

Designed by the renowned Norwegian yacht architect Espen Oeino, the Serene was launched in August 2011 and is currently under the ownership of Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, known as one of the most influential and formidable figures globally. With a plethora of features that include a spacious outdoor cinema, a dedicated piano room, and an underwater observatory for viewing marine life, it’s no wonder that this yacht has earned the moniker “the Floating Palace.” Onboard, you’ll also discover a snow room, a steam room, and a pool filled with seawater, catering to the desire for water in its various forms while aboard this luxurious vessel.

Dubai – $350 million

While most of us might aspire to own a humble fishing boat, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, requires a yacht, and it’s only fitting to name it after the city he governs. The Dubai was constructed in 2006 and ranks among the world’s longest yachts, stretching an impressive 530 feet, which is nearly the length of two football fields. It boasts a luxurious mosaic swimming pool, multiple jacuzzis, sunbathing areas for basking under the scorching desert sun, and even a helipad, because landing on your yacht in the middle of the ocean certainly trumps boarding from a traditional docking area, doesn’t it?

Motor Yacht A+(also known as Topaz) – $527 million

Currently in the possession of UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Topaz, upon its launch in 2012, ranked as the fourth largest yacht globally. Its amenities include a fitness hall, not one but two helipads, a swimming platform, and two diesel generators, ensuring that the immense vessel remains powered even in case of an emergency.

Azzam – $600 million

This German-built vessel boasts an impressive length of nearly 600 feet, securing its status as the largest private yacht globally. However, what truly distinguishes it from the rest is its onboard missile defense system, originally designed to safeguard its late owner Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who served as the president of the UAE until his passing in 2022. The yacht is equipped with two potent diesel engines, enabling it to achieve speeds of up to 32 knots (approximately 37 mph), leaving all other yachts in its wake… or waters, as the case may be.

History Supreme – $4.8 billion

The History Supreme holds the distinction of being the world’s most expensive yacht, and the gap in cost is indeed substantial. While it was technically purchased anonymously by a Malaysian businessman, insiders suggest that the owner is none other than Robert Kuok, the billionaire founder of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

What truly sets this yacht apart is its extravagant use of materials, including 220,000 pounds of solid gold and platinum. As if that weren’t enough, the yacht boasts a genuine T-Rex dinosaur bone mounted on a wall. But here’s the kicker: the wall itself is constructed from meteoric stone, adding an even more mind-boggling layer of opulence to this incredible vessel.
